About Carolyn & Chris Family Tree
This website was created for the extended family of Carolyn (nee Dow) and Chris Douglas to share details of our family history and family photos. We are New Zealanders (both born and bred in Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand) and our family connections extend across the world. We would like to thank all the cousins that we have found in the course of our research who have generously shared their family knowledge and photos.

If you have any family photos (or copies of newspaper clippings, certificates etc) that you would like added to the site, we would
be pleased to receive them. For photos please include details of who is in the picture and the approximate date it was taken. Email them to us on our new email address which is carolynjuliedouglas@gmail.com.

If you see any information that needs updating please either email us or leave a note on the guest book.

Surnames shown as (*****) e.g. (Jones) means that we haven't yet located the birth surname of the relative concerned.

If you are interested in the Brinsdon family line, I have another TribalPages site at http://brinsdon57.tribalpages.com/ which contains the most up to date information.

September 2009 - there is an issue with TribalPages and the hyperlinked names attached to photos - many of these are incorrect. I am working to fix these and at the same time reorganising into more online albums.

October 2009 - a number of new exciting records are now on line - London certificates and the 1911 England and Wales census so I am adding these as I find them.

August 2010 - a special thank you to cousin Margaret Todd who has generously shared photos and certificates from the Todd family (Jane Todd is Chris' grandmother). We were especially thrilled to see photos dating from the mid 1800's and to put faces to names.

April 2013 - two significant books have been published recently relating to our family history. The
first is a Brenssell family book, "Waldkappel to Whare Creek" which details Chris's grandparents forebears arrival in New Zealand. A link to order this excellent book written by Laurie Brenssell (Chris's cousin) is on the right hand side of this page. The other book is "Meet me at Begg's" by Clare Gleeson. Carolyn's grandfather Frank Campbell was General Manager of Begg's and features prominently in this very interesting book.

July 2015 - Manchester marriage certificates are now online at Ancestry.com - find of the month was the marriage of Alexander Campbell and Rosannah Hughes nee Mulligan, who are Carolyn's 3x great-grandparents.

January 2022 - We (Carolyn and Chris) have had our DNA tested at Ancestry.com and have also uploaded a copy to MyHeritage. We are enjoying making contact with new cousins and verifying the research that Carolyn has done.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
